Gardaí in Tipperary to patrol graveyards in an effort to deter thieves

Gardaí in Tipperary are warning the public that it is a crime to remove items from graves without permission.

They said on social media:

"Removing any item from a graveyard without express permission is theft!!

"Please report this if you have had something taken from a loved one's grave.

"Furthermore, anyone found to be acting in a manner contrary to the solemnity of a graveyard could be facing a day out in court!

"Gardaí will be including these resting places as part of their daily patrols."

The gardaí ask that if the public notice this happening to contact their local garda station
