Clonel Applefest

Clonmel Applefest is still some months away, but organisers are delighted to share highlights from the preliminary programme for this year’s much-anticipated autumn celebration, taking place from Thursday Septemnber 25 to Sunday 28..

Leading the festival’s lineup is popular biologist, broadcaster and biodiversity advocate Éanna Ní Lamhna, who will deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for a weekend focused on nature, sustainability, culture and community.

Returning to the programme is the beloved Clonmel Storyslam, hosted this year by sheep farmer and writer Joe Whelan.

The storytelling night has earned a loyal following for its authenticity, humour and heartfelt contributions from across the community.

The festival will also feature a range of food-focused talks and workshops.

Antje Huth of Ballybrado Farm will lead a session on heritage grains and natural flours, while cookbook author and food personality Sinéad Delahunty will host a workshop exploring seasonal apple jams and chutneys.

This year’s band in residence is Sun Merchant, a new project led by Stephen McGrath, bass player formerly of Crow Black Chicken.

Their presence will be felt across multiple events including a lively food soirée, a relaxed Sunday brunch performance, and a world music double bill alongside Cork-based group Rasa Nua.

Clonmel Applefest continues to push creative boundaries with the inclusion of the Burning Cave, an immersive electronic cabaret set in a working forge, promising an unforgettable atmosphere.

A Pecha Kucha night will offer a fast-paced showcase of local designers and artists, while several guided walks and talks will highlight the unique natural and cultural landscape of Tipperary.

HARVEST FAIR

The festival’s flagship Harvest Fair returns to Kickham Plaza on Saturday 27th September.

This bustling, family-friendly event will feature apple pressing, craft activities, a community bake-off, a lively céilí, food trucks, artisan stalls and continuous performances throughout the day.

Clonmel Applefest 2025 will once again celebrate the region’s apple-growing heritage while embracing contemporary voices in food, music, art and the environment. It’s a festival that brings people together through stories, shared experiences, and a deep connection to place.
