Night-time water supply restriction in place for customers of Tipperary's Ardfinnan scheme
Uisce Éireann has issued a notice that overnight water for customers supplied by the Ardfinnan Regional Public Water Scheme are in place until Monday to ensure a daytime supply for their communities.
The utility says the restrictions are required due to operational issues that were experienced at the plant which has resulted in reservoirs reaching low levels. The pperational issues experienced have since been addressed.
However to help reservoir levels refill to a satisfactory standard, night-time water restrictions will were imposed from last night (Friday, October 6) between 9pm to 7am and will remain in place until Monday, October 9.
An update will be provided on Monday to inform customers if further night-time restrictions are required.
Some customers may experience reduced pressure while others may experience water outages.
The areas affected include Ardfinnan village, Ballyhist, Cranna, Ballybrado, Kilcommon, Roosca, Ballyea, Castlegrace, St Finnan’s estate, Castle View estate, Ros Na Greine, Lady's Abbey, Ashfield Manor Estates, Goatenbridge, Poulatar, Ballyvera, Newcastle, Middlequarter, Knockperry, Garrencasey and surrounding areas.
Thanking the community for their patience, Uisce Éireann’s Colin Cunningham said: “We understand the impact restrictions have on a community, but they are essential to allow reservoir levels to recover overnight and maintain a consistent supply of drinking water for customers during the day. We thank the community for their support and ask them to consider their water usage in the days ahead.”
