Nominations for the Tipperary International Peace Award for 2023 are now being accepted.

The Tipperary International Peace Award is a prestigious honour given annually to individuals, groups, or organisations that have made significant contributions to the promotion of peace and the resolution of conflicts on a global scale.

The award has been presented since 1984 by the Tipperary Peace Convention, a voluntary organisation based in Tipperary.

The award acknowledges the outstanding efforts and achievements of individuals or entities who have worked tirelessly to promote peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution.

The award aligns with the principles of peace, non-violence, and social justice, recognising the importance of these values in resolving international conflicts and addressing global issues.

Recipients of the Tipperary International Peace Award come from various backgrounds and have included political leaders, activists, humanitarians, organisations and institutions from around the world.

The award reflects the global nature of peace efforts. Over the years, the award has been presented to distinguished individuals and organisations that have made significant impacts on peace and humanitarian causes.

Past recipients include former US President Bill Clinton, former South African President Nelson Mandela, Pakistani female education activist Malala Yousafzai, former Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and humanitarian organisations like the Cluster Munition Coalition.

The Tipperary International Peace Award serves as an inspiration and advocacy tool to encourage others to contribute to the cause of peace and conflict resolution.

It highlights the importance of diplomacy, negotiation, and cooperation in resolving global issues.

In summary, the Tipperary International Peace Award is a significant recognition of individuals and organisations that have made substantial contributions to peace and conflict resolution efforts worldwide.

It symbolises the ongoing commitment of Tipperary and the broader international community to promote peace, non-violence, and social justice on a global scale.

The selection of award recipients is carried out by the committee of Tipperary Peace Convention. This committee assesses nominations and chooses the most deserving candidate each year.
