Planning application for advance technology building for Clonmel to be submitted early next year

Plans for a new technology building for IDA owned land at Ballingarrane, Clonmel have advanced to a stage where they will be ready for submission for planning approval early next year.
This was the update the Council’s Economic, Community & Rural Development Services Director Brian Beck gave on the project at Tipperary County Council’s monthly meeting in response to queries from Clonmel councillors Siobhán Ambrose and Michael Murphy.
Cllr Murphy had voiced concern at what he considered to be the delay in progressing the design and plans for the 100,000sq. ft. advance technology building.
Mr Beck reported that the Council has met with the IDA every two weeks to progress this building. A design for the building has been agreed and the architects have “signed off” on it.
The council has met Transport Infrastructure Ireland in relation to the project’s impact on the N24.
It was also working with the ESB in relation to electricity services and looking at devising an “on-site water solution” until such time as water mains are upgraded in the area.
Mr Beck said the Council was also working with the IDA team in relation to promotion of the advance building. This included the creation of a comprehensive video about the building.
He said he was happy with the progress made and estimated the planning application will be submitted for approval in the first quarter of next year.
“We are aiming to have the application in early in 2024. We are well advanced towards that. A lot of work went on in the background to get this moving and a lot of progress has been made.
He added: “We went slightly off track to get a solution about the water but have rectified that. A lot of geological work has been done underground.”
