Postal delays expected in Tipperary as hazardous road conditions impact An Post
The postal service company confirmed that should conditions improve, deliveries will be attempted where it is safe to do so.
Scary road conditions and power outages have been severely impacting An Post's letter and parcel deliveries today, January 6, in Tipperary, as well as other parts of the country.
A spokesperson for An Post said, "As things stand currently, it will not be possible to make letter or parcel deliveries on the majority of postal routes in counties Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Tipperary and some parts of Wicklow."
The postal service company confirmed that should conditions improve, deliveries will be attempted where it is safe to do so.
Post Offices in the counties listed above are also impacted by the bitter conditions, with An Post hoping that some may be able to open later once power and access are restored, however they are confident that many will remain closed for the course of the the day.
An Post will proceed on a safety first basis, and resume delivery and Post Office services as soon as safety and local access allow.
All updates regarding these services will be posted on anpost.com.
This news comes as no surprise due to the shocking weather conditions this past weekend, which saw heavy snow throughout Tipperary.
Today, several businesses in the county confirmed their closures due to these adverse road conditions, including Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel, who cancelled all outpatient services that were due to take place today.
Residents are being urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
