Tipperary community bids farewell to popular parish priest after he is assigned new parish

Mullinahone Parish Bids Fond Farewell to Fr Danny
The parish of Mullinahone is preparing to say a heartfelt farewell to our much-loved Parish Priest, Fr Danny, as he moves on to a new ministry in Ballina and Boher. Earlier this July, the Archbishop confirmed Fr Danny’s new appointment, which will see him take up his role as Parish Priest there in the coming weeks.
Fr Danny first arrived in Mullinahone in August 2018 and quickly became an integral part of parish life. Over the past seven years, he has led the community through significant challenges, not least among them the unprecedented difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout it all, Fr Danny has remained a steadfast presence—providing comfort, guidance, and support to individuals and families, particularly in their times of greatest need.
His deep pastoral care, tireless work ethic, and genuine connection with parishioners have left a lasting mark on the Mullinahone community. As his departure approaches, the parish wishes to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation for all he has done.
To mark the occasion, collection points have been set up at Lonergan’s, O’Brien Butchers, the Post Office, and Wilson’s for anyone who would like to contribute to a gift in recognition of Fr Danny’s service. Local organisations are also warmly invited to take part and acknowledge the generous support he has provided over the years.
Fr Danny’s final Mass in Mullinahone will take place on Friday, 22nd August, with a formal presentation planned for Sunday, 17th August following Mass. The event will be held in either the GAA Hall or the Community Centre (confirmation to follow).
We thank everyone in advance for their support and generosity. Further details and updates will be shared in the coming weeks as we prepare to celebrate Fr Danny’s time with us and wish him well on the next stage of his journey.
