Clerihan Community Hall

Friends who lost a dear friend in March are honouring her by ensuring progress continues to be made on improving the condition of the community hall in Clerihan.

The late Jackie McGrath, whose sudden death devastated the Clerihan community, was passionate about the development of the community hall so that it would be used by as many community groups as possible.

Prior to her death, she was among a group of volunteers who ran the community hall and worked tirelessly to improve the facility.

“We want to continue the good work that Jackie was involved in at the community hall, and she would be delighted with what we are doing. Jackie was such a big part of the place; this is the right thing to do,” said Jane Ryan.

Jane and more friends of Jackie have set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to continue improving the community hall.

The GoFundMe was set up last week, and over €5,000 has been raised already.

Jane said Jackie’s family, her husband Richie, and their children Richard, Megan, Rachel. Sam , and Abbie, were happy that her friends were ensuring her link with the community hall was not forgotten.

“We are thrilled with the response from the public. Jackie’s family is very supportive of the campaign. Our main aim is to raise funds that would go towards the repair of the roof,” said Jane.

“The hall was something that was very close to Jackie; everybody living in the area is very proud of it. The place was falling apart, with activities very limited. It is a growing community, and since the work was carried out, more and more people are using the hall,” said Jane.
