Tipperary Fianna Fáil Cllr Micheál Anglim reverses his decision not to contest Local Elections

Ardfinnan councillor has changed his mind after consulting with party and council colleagues, family and friends
Ardfinnan based Fianna Fáil Cllr Michéal Anglim has reversed his shock decision to leave local politics and announced he intends to contest June’s Local Elections in the Cahir Local Electoral Area as originally planned.
Cllr. Anglim last week announced his intention not to seek re-election in the upcoming local elections and retire from politics.
In a statement issued tonight (Tuesday, March 19), he said that after speaking to party colleagues, council colleagues, family and friends, he has decided he wants to continue representing his local community as a councillor and will stand for re-election in the Cahir LEA in the Local Elections in June.
“Changing my mind is not something I have done lightly,” he said. “After the announcement of my intent to not contest the election, I was taken back by the amount of people who reached out to me, asking why and whether I would reconsider my decision. I know my announcement took many people by surprise.
“Upon reflection and having considered what people have said to me, I am happy to confirm that I will be standing for Fianna Fáil in the upcoming Local Election in June.
“The importance of council work should not be understated. While I will continue to farm, I will be pulling back from farm work to the required extent so that I can continue to give 110% in representing the people of Cahir and working to improve our community for all.
“I am looking forward to the election and want to thank everyone who reached out to me over the past few days for their continued support and encouragement,” he added.
