Tipperary graveyard labelled 'no man's land' as ownership issues still to be resolved

Efforts are ongoing to bring St Mary's graveyard in Thurles under council ownership
Cllr Jim Ryan has called the overgrown side of St Mary’s “no man’s land”.
He asked the council for an update on the ongoing issues of ownership. The grounds of St Marys houses the graveyard, monuments and the International Garden of Remembrance.
However, the graveyard is currently under nobody’s remit for maintenance and has become overgrown. Cllr Ryan said the garden side is “maintained beautifully.”
District Administrator Sharon Scully replied saying they are to meet with the church and committee shortly.
She acknowledged the “long-standing issue” and said they had made a public commitment to bring the graveyard under council ownership.
