A man who was caught in possession of over €1,000 worth of controlled drugs was last week ordered to enter into a probation bond by Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at Nenagh District Court.

Darragh Shoer, 31, of Cormack Drive was charged with possessing cannabis for the purpose of sale or supply at his home address on January 11, 2022.

Mr Shoer was also found in possession of Alprazolam on that date, and again at Cormack Drive on the previous date, January 10.

The court heard that the total value of the drugs amounted to €1,073.

Mr Shoer’s solicitor Elizabeth McKeever said her client was still struggling with addiction.

She said that he realised that he faced an “uphill battle”, but Ms McKeever urged the court to go with the recommendations of a probation report that had been prepared on the defendant.

Judge MacGrath imposed a 12-month probation bond and warned Mr Shoer that it would be “open season” against him if he did not comply with the Probation Service.
