Public concern over anti-social behaviour near Clonmel school

“Is anyone else sick to the teeth of the groups congregating opposite the high school in Clonmel?”

This what a member of the public asked the Clonmel Community Help and Support forum on Facebook over the weekend.

They continued: “Every day I witness them drinking, arguing, littering, even urinating in plain sight.

“I have had to stop walking my dogs there due to the debris, broken alcohol bottles, what looked like human waste and to top if off, yesterday I saw used needles.”

The post received significant attention over the weekend with many members of the public commenting to express similar feelings.

One person wrote: “It’s ridiculous now I pass every morning and afternoon and the stuff I see is shocking and they don’t even try to hide what their doing either.”

Another said: “Everyday they are there, the same group, drinking, taking drugs fighting each other in full view for everyone to see. I have spoken to the guards about this and the only advice they could give was to ring them everytime I see it, they will come and move them on.”

Many called for something to be done, Garda intervention, removal of the benches and council involvement were all suggested.
