€1 million has been allocated for the border villages of Ballina-Killaloe, where both Tipperary and Clare County Councils will pursue the projects in their own areas separately

€1 million has been made available for a Town Centre Regeneration Project in Ballina-Killaloe, a project which will be undertaken by both Clare and Tipperary County Councils working separately, but Clare County Council will be the lead for a pedestrianised bridge.

The funding is for design and planning, with a view to submitting a future application for funding to deliver the project.

“Following liaison with Clare County Counci, a joint recommendation was submitted to the Department for approval for each local authority to progress the project in their respective areas separately.”

“Approval has now been received from the Department and Tipperary County Council will now progress the project for Ballina. This is for design and planning for priority projects such as Quarry Lane, Lakeside Drive and waterfront public realm enhancements. “

“There will continue to be close alignment between Tipperary and Clare as the plans develop.”

Clare County Council will be the lead for plans relating to the pedestrianised bridge.
