Fundraising 5k walk in memory of Deirdre Ryan to take place in Tipperary this weekend

Friends of the late Deirdre Ryan have organised a fundraising event in her memory this Sunday, September 3, in Dromineer. The 5k walk will take place along the beautiful setting along the shores of Lough Derg.
Deirdre was a member of numerous local groups and among the many local organisations she gave of her time to, Deirdre volunteered with Suaimhneas Cancer Support Centre in Nenagh, which aids all those affected by cancer in a confidential environment. The charity offers information and support at any stage, from time of diagnosis, during treatment and beyond, and this 5k event aims to raise much valuable funds to help Suaimhneas continue its valuable work in Deirdre’s memory.
The event organiser Ms Louise Morgan Walsh, is also calling on all the organisations which Deirdre was part of to come out and support this fundraising event for Suaimhneas and to join the Ryan family and Deirdre’s friends at the Whiskey Still afterwards to share their memories and stories and to celebrate her achievements in life.
“Deirdre was an amazing friend and a pillar in our community, and she supported so many good causes in our community. Among many of the local organisations she gave of her time to, Deirdre, who previously worked with Concern in Nairobi and Dublin, volunteered a lot of her time with Suaimhneas, the cancer support group, was a member of the Dromineer Nenagh Literary Festival committee, helped out with the A-Team, the youth club for those with autism, and played a huge part in the Christmas Tractors Nenagh parade and fundraising events in the run-up to Christmas”.
Please meet at the main car park in Dromineer for 1.30 pm. The 5k walk will start at 2pm. Refreshments and raffle will take place after the walk in the Whiskey Still. Donations for the raffle prizes are very welcomed, and if anyone wishes to volunteer or support the event, please contact Louise on 087 615 4146.
