LATEST: Vodafone to switch off 3G network in Tipperary

Here is what you need to know
Vodafone is to switch off its 3G network in Tipperary from next week.
Tipperary County Council issued a statement saying they have been informed of the plan.
Customers with 4G or 5G-enabled phones are not expected to see any change.
The council said:
"Their existing 3G network will upgrade to a more sustainable and reliable 4G and 5G network service, with the 3G service no longer being available.
"For those with a 4G or 5G-enabled smartphone or device, this change is not likely to affect you."
According to The Commission for Communications Regulation (Comreg), the change will affect older mobile phones that connect to the 3G and 2G networks.
While those phones will still be able to make and receive calls, using the web, through both browsers and apps will be slower.
They advise checking with Vodafone if you are unsure what to do next.
Comreg says the retirement will mean more resources for the 4G and 5G networks.
That will mean faster internet speeds, better signal quality and improved mobile services.
Vodafone has already retired its 3G services in Limerick, Cork, Galway and Dublin city.
Tipperary is part of the next commencing in October along with Clare, Limerick, Galway, Mayo, Kerry, Roscommon, Sligo, Offaly, Westmeath, Longford and Cork.
Vodafone is advising customers who are already using the 4G and 5G networks to make sure their latest updates are complete.
Mobile Broadband customers will not be affected because those services already operate on the 4G and 5G networks.
