Tipperary estate camervans ‘upsetting residents’

The council say that ‘ limited progress’ has been made with an issue at Elm Park, where a number of campervans have been accumulated
An accumulation of camper vans and other vehicles in a Clonmel housing estate are upsetting residents, so said local councillors at a recent Clonmel district meeting.
Ongoing issues were reported in Elm Park by local representatives, who claimed that the number of camper vans and other vehicles parked on the road and on driveways was an issue. The matter was highlighted by Cllr Pat English at a recent meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
Cllr English said he had received phone calls from people living in Elm Park about the "unauthorised” use of some areas in the estate, which saw the number of vehicles increase. One section, he claimed, was like “a junkyard”.
“We get it in the head from people living there, and rightly so,” said Cllr English, who said concern about the matter had been repeated a number of times.
The Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Siobhan Ambrose supported Cllr English and agreed, saying that the number of camper vans and other vehicles dotted all over Elm Park was a matter of concern and “those vehicles were taking up spaces as well”.
Town Manager Johnathan Cooney said officials had been engaging with people on the estate involved in such activity and had been on site as well, albeit with limited progress made on the issue. He assured members that the situation would continue to be monitored by various departments in the council.
One of the issues the council was encountering was that some of the vehicles were parked in private property and some were parked on public property.
