St Farnan's Post Primary School, Prosperous is to receive a new 1000 pupil school building

Minister Martin Heydon, Fine Gael TD for Kildare South has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Education, that it has approved the construction of a new school building for St Farnan's Post Primary School, Prosperous that will accommodate 1,000 pupils.

“I am delighted to have received confirmation from my colleague Minister for Education, Hildegarde Naughton that St Farnan’s Post Primary School, Prosperous has been approved for a new school building accommodating 1,000 students, including 4 special educational needs classrooms.

“I know from numerous visits to St. Farnan's previously the need for this new school building. I want to extend great credit to the leadership team, led by Mr Andrew Purcell along with the Board of Management, staff, parents and pupils who’s work and efforts to date has brought this project to this stage.

“This new school project will be transformational for the staff and students at St Farnan’s Post Primary and is in addition to the new school projects that I already assisted in securing in South Kildare, including Cross and Passion College Kilcullen and Patrician Secondary School, Newbridge, each also delivering state of the art facilities for 1,000 pupils with six dedicated special education needs classrooms.”

Concluding, Minister Heydon said: “I and my new colleague on Kildare County Council for the area Cllr. Lisa Murphy will work closely with St. Farnan’s, Minister Naughton and the Department to ensure construction begins without delay, whilst also advocating for progression of the new school building for the Curragh Community College at the Magee Barracks site.”
