Beekeeping course starting in South Kildare soon

With the increasing interest in biodiversity and pollination, would you like to learn more about bees?  Maybe you’d like to become a beekeeper?

South Kildare Beekeeping Association is organising a course for beginners in Athy, starting on Wednesday, February 15 and running for eight weeks.

The sessions will be hosted by experienced beekeepers and cover areas such as the bee colony, the equipment needed, the queen, and forage.  There will also be practical sessions on making hives and using smokers.

In the late Spring participants can visit the club apiary and watch experienced beekeepers at work.  There will also be a workshop on honey extraction as the summer draws to a close.

The cost will cost €65 and membership of the club is included in the fee. Register and pay on https:// southkildarebeekeepers.org/
