A planning permission application has been submitted to Kildare County Council

A Kildare-based sports club intends to construct six brand-new padel tennis courts on its grounds.

Newbridge Town Football Club (FC) has applied for planning permission from Kildare County Council (KCC) to construct the new courts on its grounds, which is situated on Station Road, Rickardstown in Newbridge.

The application follows after the club had its plans to construct three padel tennis courts approved by KCC back in April.

The official description contained within the latest application notes that Newbridge Town FC wants to construct six padel courts enclosed in a steel and PVC structure, measuring a total of 1,780 square metres.

The club is also seeking permission from KCC for the new ssite to include the provision of a social area, reception and a store.

In addition, the application notes that the proposed development will ‘maintain the existing entrance to the site, existing car parking and existing club amenities within the existing clubhouse’.

The date received is listed as June 24 last, while the submission by and due dates are listed as July 28, 2026 and August 18, 2026 respectively.

According to Newbridge Town FC’s official website, the club was founded back in 1969 and ‘offers football for all ages’.

It is a member of the FAI National League.
