Fighting Words Morning with Roddy Doyle at Kildare's Riverbank Theatre

Riverbank Arts Centre are delighted to announce that they are hosting a Fighting Words Morning with Roddy Doyle on Friday, September 8 at 10am.

Fighting Words is a free creative writing programme co-founded by Roddy Doyle and Seán Love in January 2009. It operates on the premise that creative writing is an essential part of every child’s education: that giving children a dedicated chance and space to explore the limitlessness of their imaginations, does great things. Riverbank Arts Centre is the Kildare Partner of Fighting Words and they present free creative writing workshops for primary and secondary schools in the venue.

Riverbank Arts Centre are looking to expand their team of voluntary tutors. Fighting Words have over 400 volunteer tutors – people from all walks of life including students, retired people, writers (both professional and aspiring), teachers, journalists, and visual artists, to name just a few.

On the morning Fighting Words Project Co-Ordinator Pierina Campbell will guide attendees through a short Fighting Words Workshop. This event is for anyone who is interested in the work Fighting Words has done over the last 14 years and their plans for the future (not just potential volunteers!) Full training is provided to all volunteers and you will always work as part of a team. Fighting Words does not require minimum commitment, any time you can give is greatly appreciated. 

Fighting Words Morning with Roddy Doyle will take place at Riverbank Arts Centre on September 8 at 10am. This is a free event and places can be booked through the Box Office, either in person or by telephone on 045 448327 Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm (closed for lunch 2-2.30) and Saturday 10am-1pm.
