Good news for Celbridge commuters using Route 120
A Social Democrats councillor from the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District has received confirmation from the National Transport Authority (NTA) that improvements are on the way for the Route 120 bus service.
The news follows a motion tabled by Cllr Claire O'Rourke at an MD meeting in May, which called for urgent action on overcrowding and reliability on the service.
Cllr O'Rourke has confirmed this week that the NTA has acknowledged growing demand and is procuring additional double-deck coaches to increase capacity.
From early next year, she stated, plans include more frequent services, extra 120X departures, better rail connections at Maynooth, a new Route 121, and improved links to destinations including Sandyford and UCD.
Cllr O'Rourke, speaking of the development, said: “While I would have preferred stronger short-term measures,it's encouraging to see the problem recognised and a clear commitment to improving the service.
“I'll continue to press for interim solutions until these improvements are in place.
“Thank you to everyone who contacted me and shared your experiences – they helped highlight the need for action.”
