KWWSPCA COLUMN

A pregnant lurcher came into our care in September from Kildare Pound. A kind person found her wandering with a very long heavy chain attached to her collar. The dog was in reasonably good health despite this huge chain around her neck.

The KWWSPCA Welfare Officer fostered her and took on the busy job of looking after her litter. Mother and pups have done well, some didn’t survive unfortunately. We are now ready to seek new homes for four healthy males from the litter.

It is always best advice to consider everything associated with adopting a puppy and not to see Christmas as being an ideal time to add to the family. Dogs deserve a loving home for all of their lives. If you are interested in adopting one of our four beautiful pups, please visit our website for details: Kwwspca.ie.

Sloan

We rehomed a lovely lurcher called Sloan recently to a nice family in Meath. Sloan was a very popular dog at the shelter with all the volunteers due his gentle nature and easy going personality. His favourite spot was the big soft couch in our shelter kitchen. We wish him well in his new home. As we are now well into the long dark evenings, it is a timely reminder to keep an eye on your pets around the house and garden.

Roscommon SPCA reported this week that two men were calling to houses in a townland area asking if dog owners wished to have their dogs rehomed. The Gardai were notified but one dog has gone missing.
