Rosemary Noonan will present the exhibition at Naas Library

An artist based in County Kildare will explore motherhood and family life through her upcoming exhibition.

Rosemary Noonan, a mother of three based in Naas and originally from Templemore, will present the exhibition as part of ‘The Mother Village Project’.

The project will examine motherhood, breastfeeding, women’s bodies and the value of having a community in order to support families.

‘VULNERABILITY’

According to the organisers, Rosemary, through her paintings, drawings and sculptures, aims to ‘draw on her own experiences of motherhood, highlighting the tenderness, vulnerability and everyday moments of care that can often go unseen’.

They also revealed that the January programme will include creative events at Riverbank Arts Centre on January 16, 2027, and asserted that these events will offer ‘further opportunities for people to connect through art and shared experiences’.

Earlier this month, the project brought exhibitions and workshops to Athy Art House, where mothers and families took part in drawing sessions, family casting workshops and informal creative gatherings.

Participants were encouraged to explore their creativity while making space for the realities of life with young children.

Local support organisations Cuidiú Athy and La Leche League also worked to bring families together during the course of these events.

Rosemary’s exhibition will be held inside Naas Library from January 9, 2027 to January 22, 2027.

‘The Mother Village Project’ is funded by both Kildare Arts Service and the mental health charity First Fortnight.

It aims to create welcoming spaces where people can gather, share experiences and build connections through creativity.
