Kildare court: Man told that his house would be ‘petrol-bombed’

CONCERN
The father of a female defendant’s child was subject to a threat involving a petrol bomb.
That’s the claim that was heard in Naas District Court on Thursday, February 2.
The woman appeared in court as part of a contested bail application, and for the execution of two bench warrants against her.
It was heard that the woman allegedly committed an assault offence in Kildare last month.
Defending solicitor David Powderly told presiding Judge Michele Finan that the father of her children owed money over drugs, and that she was concerned for the wellbeing of her child.
The court was told that the father has full custody over their child.
He said that his client claimed to gardaí that she became alarmed when she heard that someone threatened to 'petrol bomb' the father’s home.
Mr Powderly added that his client has had issues with homelessness and substance abuse in the past, and that her only priority was to protect her child.
She told the judge that she no longer uses drugs.
Judge Finan recommended for the father to appear on the next date to give evidence, while gardaí also told her that Tusla had been notified about the case.
The judge also decided against gardaí’s wishes and granted bail for the woman on a number of strict conditions, which included for her to obey a curfew and for her to be contactable to gardaí at all times.
