Kildare schoolgirl performs with Linda Martin in Christmas panto

A nine-year-old Kildare schoolgirl is performing at Liberty Hall Theatre's Christmas Panto starring Eurovision winner Linda Martin.

Leila Byrne who lives in Kilcock, is a fourth class pupil at St Joseph’s National School Kilcock.

Leila began performing arts at 8 years old. She is attending Maureen Ward performing arts and Maureen is also Leila’s agent.

Leila attended an audition for the Liberty Theatre Christmas Panto in August, and received a call back two weeks later offering her a part in the Kids ensemble, dancing and singing.

Leila began rehearsals in early September and rehearses twice per week in North Dublin. She is enjoying her time with the Panto, she describes them as one big family, and just enjoys practising her dances and songs. As we are only 4 weeks away from the opening Leila is very excited, and can’t wait to perform along side her fellow dancers. Leila is the youngest cast member.

Leila also has hopes that future opportunities are awaiting her as she has taken part in a few auditions recently for short films, and advertisements.

Rapunzel stars Linda Martin Eurovision winner, Eric Lawlor, Fair City actor and comedian, Rapunzel played by Anna Kearney who represented Ireland in 2019 junior Eurovision.

Rapunzel opens in the Liberty Theatre on the 18th of December and runs until the 31st of December.
