Kildare woman claims her husband assaulted her and sister who attempted to rescue her
ACCUSATIONS
A woman claimed that her ex-husband attacked her and then her sister, who tried to come to her aid.
The allegations were heard at Naas District Court on Thursday, April 14.
Judge Deirdre Gearty was told by the woman, who was seeking a protection order against her ex-husband, that she picked him up from a pub in County Kildare.
She said she was accompanied by her sister and daughter at the time of the alleged incident.
An argument between them broke out, which she said sent him into a fit of rage, during which he allegedly broke a window in her car.
He then allegedly grabbed her by her hair, and at one point, allegedly tried to throw a pint glass at her, but was stopped from doing so by her sister.
However, she claimed that this action made him angrier, and he then proceeded to assault her sister.
"All of this was witnessed by my daughter," she told Judge Gearty: "I didn’t think that he would ever be capable of doing this."
The judge agreed to grant a temporary protection order for the woman, and directed gardaí to serve it on the ex-husband.
The case will return to the court on a date in October.
