New weekend food festival to run at Curragh Racecourse

The first ever High Spirits & Curragh Food Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday 23rd and 24th September at the Curragh Racecourse.
This brand-new festival will run alongside a packed program of world class racing where a real feast for the senses will be provided by combining the thrill of racing with a superb culinary experience.
This brand new festival is very unique because no other racing venue in Ireland combines two world leading treats for both discerning foodie and sports fans and sample the very best in mostly locally produced Irish artisan food and drink products, especially and mostly from local businesses in Leinster.
The Curragh Racecourse will be transformed into a foodie heaven and with thousands of racegoers being offered the chance to try delicious food from a wide range of vendors such as Khalil’s Kitchen, offering Middle Eastern Street food, to Barberstown Castle who will be showcasing their renowned Seafood Chowder.
Food trucks will be parked trackside while drinks vendors will be located inside Champions Hall. Racegoers will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy their food in a picnic/festival atmosphere.
As well as great food and fabulous racing, the High Spirits and Food Festival will see live music performances from the likes of Newbridge Gospel Choir, NITETRAIN and the Havana Trio while there’ll be a huge kids zone area with free entertainment for the junior racegoers.
With excellent food, thrilling racing and great style, a day at the races really does deliver. On Sunday the Friends of the Curragh Irish Cesarewitch which is Europe’s most valuable handicap race is the feature race of the second day of the Autumn Festival at the Curragh Racecourse and will be responsible for arguably one of the most novel three way charity initiatives to take place between a sporting venue as well as charities and businesses around its hinterland. All the equine entrants in the famous old race are matched with local Kildare bars who will nominate and be matched with various charities around the county. Proceeds from a prize fund of €5,000 for the bars that are matched with horses that finish in the first 5 places in one of the most famous old handicap races in Europe will go to the chosen charities.
