Solar compactor bins sought for Newbridge, County Kildare

Sponsored solar compactor bins are being sought for Newbridge.

The suggestion was put forward by Social Democrats Chris Pender via a motion at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting on Wednesday, June 21.

He motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to seek sponsorship from businesses on the Main Street of Newbridge for the installation of sponsored solar compactor bins.

Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender put forward the motion.

In response, a representative of KCC who was present at the meeting said: "The provision of solar compactor bins is an issue that is currently under review.

"All appropriate funding mechanisms will be considered in this respect," they added.

Cllr Pender also told the representative that he was of the view that KCC should specifically engage with local retailers located near 'litter hotspots.'
