SPAR National Tree Day

President Michael D Higgins was presented with a native holly tree sapling at Áras an Uachtaráin by Éanna Ní Lamhna, President of the Tree Council to mark SPAR National Tree Day, which took place in October.

The initiative by the Tree Council of Ireland, supported by SPAR, encourages primary school children across the country to plant a tree. As part of this year’s campaign, 1,500 Native Irish Holly tree saplings were sent to primary schools across the country to encourage them to connect directly with nature.
