Edel Meade from Co. Tipperary is one of Ireland’s leading performers, noted for her stunning voice and mesmerising live performances.

Join her for a very special solo concert performance weaving together a beautiful selection of music, stories and songs related to Brigid, Gobnait and Sheela-na-gig, drawing from Irish folklore and mythology and premiering a brand new original song composed specially for this Brigid 1500 event.

During the creative process behind her critically acclaimed album Brigids and Patricias, Edel was inspired by the legacy of Brigid and saw this as the ideal time to shed light on some of the other pre-Christian goddesses and aspects of the divine feminine in Ireland.

This event is supported by Kildare County Council and the Brigid 1500 Programme.

This show has been widely acclaimed.

The Blue of the Night programme on RTÉ Lyric fm described it as “astounding, riveting, brilliant.”

“A fearless delivery that celebrates womanhood,” hailed the Sunday Business Post.

“What she’s done here is extraordinary,” said the Irish Echo in New York.

A unique artist working at the intersection of jazz, folk and contemporary music; Edel's voice has been described as mesmerising while her music is haunting and very powerful.

For Edel, music-making is less about playing within the confines of genre and more about stretching her abilities as a creative artist with a lot to say.

The show will be performed at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge on Wednesday, May 22. Tickets cost €10 – €12.
