A woman who stole fillet steaks  from a supermarket in Maynooth was prosecuted at Naas District Court.

Gemma Murray (33), whose address was given as 15 Ratoath Drive, Finglas, Dublin 11, was defended by barrister Aisling Murphy, who said she had a long standing addiction to heroin.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that on the morning of August 8, 2019, the defendant took ten fillet steak packets worth €130 and left without paying.

The court heard the defendant had ten previous convictions, including two for theft but she had been involved in no incidents since then.

Judge Desmond Zaidan applied the Probation Act.
