Call for report on international trips by Kildare county councillors and officials
Today's monthly meeting of Kildare Co Council heard a request for information on international travel and subsistence expenses incurred by county councillors.
Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy asked for the data to cover the past five years - back to 2014.
The public representative also wants information supplied to relate to non-elected Council executives on such trips.
Cllt McLoughlin Healy asked that the report "include a report of intended benefits to the tax-payers of the trip and any and all reports provided by executive or councillors on their return".
Retired Mayor Cllr Martin Miley Jnr visited New York for St Patrick's Day last year and met with local representatives to forge business and cultural links with Kildare.
In 2017, Cllr Ivan Keatley paid a three-day visit to the Big Apple as Mayor.
