A Carlow woman was crowned the Best Dressed lady at the famed Ladies Day in Aintree yesterday.

Faith Amond was selected from a group of 10 finalists at the English venue after the judges picked her out for her red and pink ensemble that was designed by Irish based designer Louise Kennedy and Irish milliner Jennifer Wyrnne.

The mother of three received a brand new Range Rover as her prize, and she spoke to the Liverpool Echo newspaper about her win shortly afterwards.

"It just all worked together. It's just such an  honour to be winning at Aintree, there was such great style," she said.

"I couldn't believe when my name was called," she said.

"I love the style, I think every woman loves style...I love coordinating the outfits."

The action continues at the Liverpool venue later on today, with the English Grand National set to attract millions of television viewers when it gets underway at 5.15pm.
