There will be 5 blood donation clinics taking place in Co Kildare this week, with eligible donors urged to visit their local clinics to give blood over the festive season.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has said that one in four people will require a blood donation at some point in their lives, and the festive season is one of the busiest times with a high demand for blood in hospitals across the country.
In Naas the blood donation clinic is being hosted at Scoile Bhride, Old Town, Sallins Road, Naas, from 3pm-5pm and then 7pm-9pm on Thursday, December 27. The clinic will also resume on Friday 28 December from 12 noon to 3.30pm and on Saturday 30 December from 12 noon to 3.30pm.
In Athy, the blood donation clinic will be hosted at the Athy Church of Ireland Centre, Janeville, Athy, Co Kildare, from 4.30pm - 8pm tomorrow Thursday 27 December and will resume from 11.30am-3.30pm on Friday, 28 December.
Those wishing to donate blood must be over 18 and they may be asked to provide I.D. such as a passport or a drivers licence.
