Kildare County Council has said that breaches of noise rules will be investigated in cases where complaints are made against building sites.

According to KCC the construction times invariably of any development are governed by the planning condition outlining the times allowed for construction activities.

One site currently under construction in the Naas area which is engaged in pile driving was granted permission by An Bord Pleanála and it was stipulated that development and building works could be carried out only between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday, between 8am and 2pm on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays and public holidays.

These times can only be changed in “exceptional circumstances where prior written approval has been received from KCC.”

This was done to safeguard the residential amenities of property in the area.

A Naas Municipal District meeting was also told that another large development in Naas was told by KCC  to operate between the hours of 7am and 6pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am to 2pm on Saturday.

The council says If the developer is operating outside these permitted hours it can be investigated.
