Garda was called 'a little faggot' and spat at

The gardaí were summoned to the scene in west Kildare
A garda was spat at and called “a little faggot” by a man who was detained in west Kildare, Naas District Court was told.
The court heard that two gardaí were called to the scene, a private residence at Allenwood North.
Anthony Mockler, 32, whose address was given as 1 Woodlands, Blakestown, Dublin 15, was prosecuted for breaching the Public Order Act on February 13, 2022.
Sgt Mary Meade said the parents of the man’s girlfriend had summoned the man who was intoxicated and abusive and had left the house.
When the gardaí arrived, she added, he became highly abusive and aggressive towards them.
The man was detained and conveyed to Naas garda station.
The court heard the defendant had five previous convictions.
Solicitor David Powderly said the man is currently serving a sentence with a release date in 2032.
Mr Powderly said he is making good use of his time in custody and had completed a number of courses, including one on how to deal with anger.
“He has some insight into his offending,” added Mr Powderly.
Judge Desmond Zaidan noted that the man is serving a long sentence and applied the Probation Act.
