Great news as Kildare singers selected for prestigious choir

The 18- to 25-year-old choir will perform at the Irish Chamber Orchestra Hall in Limerick
Nine talented young singers from County Kildare have been selected to join the prestigious Irish Youth Choirs, bringing together some of the country’s brightest emerging choral performers.
Among those chosen for the Irish Youth Choir for 18- to 25-year-olds are Celbridge singers Amy Cawley, aged 20, Hannah Lofstrand, aged 19, and Ava McKenna, aged 19.
The younger Irish Youth Choir ensemble for singers aged 14 to 17 includes Harvey Loney from Naas, Finlay Crawford from Punchersgrange, Eoin Craven from Leixlip, Ellie Rodgers from Newbridge and Lena Bouhella from Naas.
Both choirs take part in an annual summer residential programme, an intensive week-long course at the University of Limerick which culminates in a series of public concerts.
The 18- to 25-year-old choir will perform at the Irish Chamber Orchestra Hall in Limerick on Friday, July 17, before performing at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin on Saturday, July 18.
The concerts follow performances by the 14- to 17-year-old ensemble at the same venues earlier this month.
The Irish Youth Choirs programme is run by Sing Ireland, with this year’s choirs directed by former Irish Youth Choir members Patrick Barrett and Lynsey Callaghan.
Sing Ireland CEO Dermot O’Callaghan said the ensembles provide young singers with opportunities to perform ambitious repertoire, work with creative teams and connect with other musicians from across the country.
He said the summer concerts offer audiences the chance to witness the talent of young singers from Kildare and throughout Ireland.
The Irish Youth Choirs programme is supported by the Arts Council and aims to provide a national platform for young singers, helping develop musical excellence, creativity and connection through choral performance.
