He got fired from his last job

A man told Naas District Court he cannot pay more maintenance for his children because he is living in a hostel and is not working.

The man said he received €230 weekly and he is paying €80 a week towards the maintenance of his two very young children.

He was responding to a request from his partner to increase this sum to €120 weekly.

He said he couldn't afford this, but he would continue to pay €80 a week and will increase this to €120 when he starts working.

He also told the court that he got fired from his last job.

He said he would get legal advice but we could not afford to pay for this.

Judge Desmond Zaidan appointed a solicitor to act on the man’s behalf.

The judge also affirmed the payment of €80 a week.
