KILDARE: Antenatal services to be restored to Naas Hospital

Antenatal services are set to be restored in Naas - but no date is available.
The Coombe clinic at Naas General Hospital previously provided a midwifery clinic and a consultant clinic and anatomy scans were provided in Naas for those patients booked into the clinic - with patients delivering in the Coombe.
However, the clinic was suspended at the request of hospital management “to facilitate the management” of Covid-19 patients there.
According to the HSE, it was always expected that the clinic would return “at a point in the pandemic where it would be possible to regain access to the clinic space.”
Replying to a request for information from Catherine Murphy TD and Cllr Bill Clear, the HSE said that the Naas clinic consultant services moved to the Coombe - as an interim solution. Discussions on an alternative clinical space, which would allow the clinic to resume, have started and “it is hoped this will come to a positive conclusion shortly.”
