A man needs to resolve his drinking issue, his partner told Naas District Court.

The court was told that the two have split up and have a young daughter.

Solicitor Joe Coonan told the court that the man is anxious to see his daughter.

The court heard that the man’s own father left his family when he was very young.

The man said he grew up to despise his father and feared his daughter might do likewise.

His partner said that he had sent a threatening message and all she was asking for was  piece of mind.

“He is probably very lonely and sad. He drinks a lot (and) he needs to resolve his drinking issue,” the woman told Judge Desmond Zaidan.

Mr Coonan said the man had not seen his daughter for a long time and all he wants to do is establish contact with her.

Judge Zaidan adjourned the application for a safety order.

He told the man that his wife has described him as an angel without alcohol.

He said he was keen to facilitate an access arrangement which would allow the man to see his daughter and arrangements were put in place for this to happen.
