Kildare tractor driver fined €250 for causing collision on main street of town

A tractor hauling human waste crashed into a car spilling its contents on both drivers, a sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told.
Dean Fitzpatrick, 30, with an address at Rathernan, Kilmeague, Naas, Co Kildare pleaded guilty to careless driving at Main Street, Monasterevin on August 25 last year.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant was driving a tractor “transporting human waste” on the day and failed to notice traffic in front.
He struck the rear of a white Kia driven by a lady, said Sgt Kirby.
“She said her neck was sore and she felt sick because of the human waste,” he said.
“I hope it didn’t spill,” said Judge Andrew Cody.
Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick confirmed it did spill on her client and she believed on the car in front.
“He was drawing a trailer full of sludge. He was trying to navigate a lorry,” she said.
“The sludge did overspill on him and as I understand it on her as well,” said Ms Fitzpatrick.
Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined the man €250.
“Lets ignore what was in the trailer and whether it was properly contained or not,” he said.
