Man 'set fire to his home and walked out', Kildare court told

A man who allegedly set fire to his home, appeared at Naas District Court.

It is alleged that Robert Kelly, 46, set fire to the dwelling causing damage at 10 Ottomy Avenue, Clane on May 26, 2026.

Garda Darren Moulton told the court it will be alleged the defendant set fire to his house "and walked out.”

The garda told Judge Desmlond Zaidan that the interior of the semi detached property was extensively damaged though the roof was intact..

Defending solicitor Matt Byrne told the court that "there is a diagnosis of schizophrenia.”

Judge Zaidan adjourned the case and he also requested a medical and psychiatric report.
