Orla with 'shiny new lungs' thanks public for support

Cystic Fibrosis Campaigner Orla Tinsley has thanked the public for their support, in her first comments since her double-lung transplant.

This afternoon, Ms Tinsley tweeted: "Thank you, everyone, for all your love and support."

She added: "I now have shiny new lungs and spent yesterday, with my family, thinking of my donor and their family I am forever grateful for their forward thinking and generosity.'

Ms Tinsley, had been on life support in the lead up to last week's operation, which took place in New York.

Organs from six previous donors had proven to be unsuitable.
