Safety concerns raised for people crossing busy Athy street

A councillor has called for a 'safe crossing point' between a pub and a Chinese restaurant on a busy street in Athy.
Councillor Thomas Redmond is concerned for the safety of pedestrians crossing Leinster Street between McEvoy's pub and the New World Chinese restaurant.
Busy street
The busy junction between Leinster Street and Kirwan's Lane can be difficult to negotiate for road users, particularly schoolchildren.
The Sinn Fein politician wants to raise the issue at the next meeting of Athy Municipal District in Athy on Monday, June 19.
The motion calls on the Council to "look to developing a safe crossing between McEvoy's public house, Athy and the New World Chinese restaurant."
