This closed bus stop on one of Kildare's busiest streets 'should be reopened'

'Even a basic structure would do'
A call has been made for the bus stop to be restored at Poplar Square in Naas.
Cllr Fintan Brett said, at a Naas Municipal District committee, meeting even a basic bus stop would suffice for the many people who want to visit shops and medical related facilities in the area - rather than having to travel into the town centre.
Kildare County Council engineer Dónal Hodgins said no progress has been made on this because of “the high turnover” of staff in KCC’s sustainable transport section.
He also said it's intended to examine the area in 2026 “subject to the necessary funding
being provided by the National Transport Authority (NTA) and (the availability of qualified staff).”
