TRAFFIC: Parts of the Naas to Newbridge Road closed due to suspected gas leak

Motorists are being warned that parts of the Naas to Newbridge Road are closed temporarily this evening due to a suspected gas leak, with traffic heavy coming off the motorway as a result.

The closure is between Ladytown and the Bundle of Sticks roundabout  and will remain in place for several hours. It is understood that shortly after 5.30pm this evening a strong smell of gas was detected in the area.

Gas Networks Ireland has said that its technical staff are 'currently assessing the precise cause of the incident' and that no further information is available at this time.

Motorists are urged to remain cautious and to take alternative routes where optional.
