Tried to pay for goods in a coffee shop with a fake €50 note

A man who handed over a fake €50 note in a Naas coffee shop was prosecuted at the local court.
James McGinn, 24, whose address was given as 58 Drumcairn Gardens, Dublin 24, admitted the offence at North Main Street on February 28, 2021.
Sgt Mary Meade said the incident took place at Insomnia safe.
She said the defendant, who appeared via videolink, bought a drink and a cake and received €44.50 in change.
The court was also told he had 46 previous convictions, including four for theft and two for burglary.
The court also heard that the defendant is serving a custody term of three and a half years.
Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed an eleven months term and he told the defendant that this would not mean any additional time in custody for him.
