CRIME: Pub broken into and money taken in Laois
A rural pub in Laois has been broken into and some money taken.
The incident took place after closing time on Monday night into Tuesday morning, January 9 and 10.
The proprietor confirmed to the Leinster Express that luckily customers and staff had gone home for the night when the break-in happened.
It is understood that a window was broken, setting off the alarm, and a small sum of money taken from the till.
An investigation is underway by Laois Gardaí, with CCTV to be examined.
The Gardaí are considering that there may possibly be a connection between the incident, and the theft of a navy Land Cruiser earlier on the same night, near Mountmellick.
The Gardai appeal to anyone with information to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station.
