Disappearing paint on Portlaoise speed bumps and pedestrian crossing

Speed ramps and pedestrian crossings are fading from sight in Portlaoise, causing concern.

Paint is to be reapplied by Laois County Council on a pedestrian crossing near Bracken's service station on the Stradbally road in Portlaoise and on speed ramps on the nearby Summerhill Lane.

It follows a motion tabled by Cllr Marie Tuohy to the February meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.

“People don't seem to see it,” she noted about the crossing.

Cllr Willie Aird seconded the motion, describing Summerhill Lane as “a rat run” for traffic.
