A total of 1,600 Stradbally town customers were impacted by a power cut on the first night of the Electric Picnic

Stradbally was thrown into darkness when an electrical fault shut off power to 1,600 customers at the home of Electric Picnic on Thursday.

The ESB worked through the night and into the early hours of Friday morning to repair the fault and get the power back to the festival town.

“ESB Networks can confirm that a fault on the electricity network resulted in a power outage at 12.15am, affecting more than 1,600 customers in Stradbally and surrounding areas.

Crews responded promptly to assess the issue and undertake the required repairs. Supply was restored to the majority of affected customers by approximately 3.15am, with full restoration by 4.50am,” an ESB spokesperson said.

They said “we acknowledge the disruption this caused to family and commercial life and sincerely thank all those affected for their patience and understanding.”
